adding subtracting and multiplying negatives

I've always wanted to excel in adding subtracting and multiplying negatives, it seems like there's a lot that can be done with it that I can't do otherwise. I've searched the internet for some useful learning resources, and consulted the local library for some books, but all the data seems to be directed to people who already know the subject. Is there any tool that can help new students as well?

A great piece of algebra software is Algebrator. Even I faced similar difficulties while solving solving a triangle, fractional exponents and adding exponents.
